The Suite
The Capella Suite is arguably the most coveted key in Sydney, serving as the signature residence at one of the city's top hotels. While it doesn't offer the expected head-on Sydney Harbour views—a common feature in suites of this caliber—the sightlines are still impressive. From the king bedroom, you can clearly catch the water stretching out over the Woolloomooloo area.
The best perspective, however, is reserved for the bathroom. The deep soaking bathtub is positioned perfectly for gazing out at some of Sydney's most historic architecture and the greenery of the Royal Botanic Gardens. The living space successfully executes the Capella aesthetic, striking a confident balance between the building's historic bones and striking contemporary design elements. This arrangement includes a separate dining area, providing a distinct zone for private meals or meetings. Comfort details include custom Italian 'Frette' linen on the bed, and the entire residence is supported by 24-hour hotel service.
The Hotel
Capella Sydney opened in 2023, set within Sydney’s former Department of Education building, a stone’s throw from the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. The sandstone property was built in the 1900s by NSW government architect George McRae and has been meticulously restored over the last seven years to house the hotel. The Farrer Place lobby is filled with a carefully curated art collection including pieces from Australian artists Judy Watson, Otis Hope Carey and Georgia Bisley. As for accommodation, Capella Sydney features 192 elegant guest rooms and suites set across nine floors. The rooms are effortlessly luxurious; think soft woven rugs, sleek walnut furnishings and modern artworks adorning the walls.
