Penthouse, The West Hollywood EDITION

Opening in Fall 2019, just a few months before – you guessed it – the Covid-19 pandemic, The West Hollywood EDITION still has the feeling of a new hotel. 

The work of British minimalist architect John Pawson, the hotel and residences have been lauded by the design world for their considered aesthetic. 

Light-filled rooms are sleek and chic with milk white walls and blonde Siberian Larch wood detailing. Geometric lines and a rooftop pool that wouldn’t look out of place in a David Hockney painting exude that easy breezy LA vibe. 

The towering ceilings, dramatic lighting and oversized emerald green curtains of the lobby supply a dash of Hollywood glamor. There is also a touch of grittiness in homage to the neighborhood's past, via a hanging gas can installation by artist Sterling Ruby. 

Plants are everywhere too (to be exact, 56 indigenous plant species from Southern California surround the hotel's entrance). An organic plant-forward menu is served in chef John Fraser’s Ardor restaurant amidst a palm-laden outdoor terrace. At the spa, plant-derived products work hand-in-hand with technologically advanced treatments.

The hotel’s coveted one-bedroom Penthouse offers views across the city from its flower-lined wrap around terrace and multi-aspect full length windows. The neutral palette is given a sumptuous twist with fresh flowers, white leather detailing and faded vintage-style rugs softening the crisp modern floor tiles. 

The natural stone bathroom features a double vanity, rainforest shower and deep soaking tub with custom Le Labo amenities. 

Amongst the stylish soft furnishings in the elongated living and dining room is a sofa bed should it be required. The Penthouse can also be connected to a Deluxe Terrace King room to create a roomy two-bed abode.
