The Suite
The estate was originally commissioned as the private sanctuary for Tanah Gajah's founder, Hendra Hadiprana, and his wife. Designed to accommodate up to four adults, the villa still maintains the intimate, residential atmosphere of its origins.
The living and dining areas showcase Hadiprana's personal collection—a compelling mix of paintings, antiques, and artifacts that immediately ground the space in local history and taste. These interiors are scaled perfectly for relaxed evenings and private gatherings.
Outside, the tropical garden provides total seclusion, wrapping around a substantial private pool. This outdoor area is fully equipped with a sun deck, comfortable loungers, and a traditional shaded 'bale', offering a quiet space for reading or reflection. A dedicated butler is assigned to the estate, managing all logistics and ensuring a seamless experience from arrival to departure.
The Hotel
Once a private estate, Tanah Gajah offers an intimate Balinese retreat surrounded by rice paddies and sacred temples. Art and architecture play a central role, with stone sculptures, hand-carved teak and open-air pavilions scattered throughout the grounds. Each suite and villa is designed for tranquility, featuring plunge pools, canopy beds and outdoor showers. Guests can unwind in the spa, stroll through the lotus ponds or take a hot air balloon ride over Ubud’s greenery. Personalized service, curated cultural activities and a setting that reflects traditional craftsmanship give this resort a sense of understated elegance and quiet authenticity.
