ANNUALLY IN JUNE
The White Night Festival is a phenomenon in cities all over the world, an allnight celebration of the arts in which performances of music, fashion, theater, art and film take place in public spaces across a metropolis.
Tel Aviv’s version began as a celebration of the city’s receipt of UNESCO World Heritage status for its famous Bauhaus architecture. If you are here during White Night, there is no excuse for staying home or heading to bed. Tel Aviv does not do anything by halves, and its thriving, frenetic cultural scene finds any excuse to come out and play. In past years museums, galleries, shops and restaurants have thrown open their doors for the night, with open-air concerts, art exhibitions and themed fashion shows erupting all over the city. Sunrise parties at the beach, theater performances in a historic train station, live jazz, opera, rock and traditional Israeli music, themed historical tours of the city, and interactive fashion workshops are just some of the innovative and thrilling events Tel Aviv has hosted at previous White Nights. Expect to be surprised, to discover something new about the city or fall in love with a genre of music you didn’t know before. You won’t get much sleep, but you won’t mind too much when you’re enjoying live opera or a startling piece of theater as the sun comes up over the beach.
