Milan, Italy – Versace Spa is pleased to announce it will host the Versace/One Charity Gala, a fashion charity gala featuring Versace’s first official fashion show in China and a charity fundraiser to benefit Jet Li’s One Foundation, on Thursday, November 13th 2008, in Beijing, China.
Versace and the Jet Li One Foundation have established a yearlong partnership for the opening of children’s centres for post trauma and psychological relief in Sichuan Province .
Following a direct donation from Versace to open the first Versace/One Foundation Children’s Centre in San Jiang, Sichuan Province, in early November, the Versace/One Charity Gala aims to raise additional funds through an exclusive “One of a kind” auction to help open a second – and ideally a third – children’s centre in the most devastated areas of Sichuan.
The “One of a Kind” auction, conducted by Sotheby’s, includes exclusive lots of luxurious products and once in a lifetime experiences, donated by Versace and Jet Li.
100% of the proceeds from the Versace/One Foundation merchandise will be donated to the One Foundation charity, to help achieve Donatella Versace’s goal: to open further Versace/One Foundation children’s centres in Sichuan for much needed psychological post-trauma relief for the victims of the earthquakes.
Donatella Versace says: “The images we have seen and continue to see from the Sichuan Province on our television screens and in our newspapers show the enormity of the plight facing the earthquake victims. I believe that this special program that we have created together with the One Foundation will help give back to the community by providing centres where families can send their children to study, and most importantly where we can help them overcome the trauma of this tragedy by offering psychological counselling. As a mother, I instinctively wanted to do something for the families that are suffering. It is not only a responsibility and a duty, but also a true honour to participate in such a project.”
