Height of Fashion: Hotel ICON Hong Kong Unveils Fashion Designer Suite

By Pardhasaradhi Gonuguntla

Hong Kong, China – Reported by Elite Traveler, the private jet lifestyle magazine

Deluxe Hotel ICON in Hong Kong has revealed its new designer suite by fashion darling Vivienne Tam as part of its mission to showcase iconic artists and designers.

Testament to Hong Kong’s vibrant arts scene, Hotel ICON has commissioned a number of renowned architects and celebrated designers—what it calls hotel ‘icons’—to create a space filled with striking interiors and state-of-the-art design. Other notable collaborations include interior design by style mogul Terence Conran, and features by Rocco Yim, one of Hong Kong’s most prominent design architects.

The collaboration with Vivienne Tam represents a homecoming of sorts for the New-York based designer who is an alumnus of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), which owns Hotel ICON, and one of the city’s celebrity figures. When discussing the project Vivienne Tam said: “As an alumnus of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, it is an honor to take on this challenging project. It’s my way of contributing to the very school that nurtured my interest in fashion design”.

Famed in fashion circles for her unique brand of ‘China chic’, her signature blend of chinoiserie with modernity perfectly reflects the essence of Hong Kong, a city which constantly looks forward to the future whilst proudly displaying its cultural heritage.

The new suite on the 27th floor of the hotel offers stunning panoramic views of Victoria Harbour and the iconic city skyline. Inspired by her own flat in New York, the 80-square-meter pad includes a spacious bedroom with an adjoining living room which provides a chic and modern space for either working in privacy or entertaining in style.

With every detail personally curated by Vivienne Tam herself it exudes her signature style with high ceilings resembling traditional Chinese screens and furnishings that correspond to Shanghai’s Art Deco era. Along with these Chinese accents opulent features such as the ‘Opera Girl’ portrait made of Swarovski crystals and the deep red ‘Ploum’ sofa by the Bouroullec Brothers remind you that this is a leading luxury hotel.

The suite also comes with all the mod-cons and amenities that define the other top suites in the hotel such as the Above and Beyond lounge where guests have access to exclusive concierge services and privileged access to VIP areas such as the Panoramic Bar.

Richard Hatter, General Manager of Hotel ICON, said: “This is a particularly special collaboration for us for two reasons. It underscores Hotel Icon’s mission to be unlike any other while at the same time showcasing and celebrating one of our truly own homegrown talents”.
