The Upper House, Swire Hotels’ first property in Hong Kong, will officially open on October 2. In celebration of the opening, the new intimate hotel located within Pacific Place has launched an exclusive ‘two nights-for-one’ offer for the first 90 days with rates starting from HK$3,388 (approximately US$437) for a 730-square foot Island View Studio 70.
The Upper House has been designed by renowned Hong Kong architect Andre Fu of AFSO with the use of natural materials, distinctive sculptures and original artwork throughout to create the feel of a sophisticated and modern residence.
The 117 spacious rooms, including 21 suites and 2 penthouses, are the largest in Hong Kong – starting at 730-square feet – and feature panoramic harbor or island views. The bathrooms alone are all over 300-square feet, with panoramic views, walk-in rain showers, free-standing limestone clad baths, double vanities and separate dressing areas.
The hotel incorporates the latest in-room technology: interactive hotel information, music and games via iPod Touch®, complimentary wired and wireless high speed internet, LCD TVs with 2.1 surround sound, and simple connectivity for PCs, camcorders and MP3s. Guestroom amenities also include complimentary refreshments from the in-room Maxi-Bar and espresso machine.
Café Gray Deluxe is a highlight of The Upper House and is located on Level 49 overlooking Hong Kong’s iconic Victoria Harbor. Accessed by a spectacular Sky Bridge over a 131-foot high atrium, the 21st century grand café, serving modern European classics, marks the return of celebrated chef Gray Kunz to Hong Kong from New York where he earned widespread acclaim.
“This highly individualized small hotel with a dynamic restaurant will help showcase the recent revitalization of Pacific Place and provide a welcome retreat for both business and leisure guests,” said Dean Winter, general manager of The Upper House.
