Australian super chef Luke Mangan, a disciple of Herman Schneider and Michel Roux, has landed in Bali opening this past week with a branch of his Salt Tapas at Sentosa Villas in Seminyak.
Dishes ranging from Suckling Pig Sliders and Lobster Brioche Vietnamese Salad to Seafood Paella and Curried Roasted Pumpkin provide a casual yet tasty dining experience. Having visited twice I can highly recommend it. Service is friendly and fast. They remembered what we liked from the previous night and offered it up right away. Seating is both outdoor poolside, at a stylish bar or inside with views to a semi-open kitchen with several tables close enough you can feel as though you are part of the action if that’s your thing.
The resort has strong Aussie ties having been built by award winning developer Saxon Looker, and offers 43 three, four and five-bedroom villas. Villa amenities include full size refrigerators, large pools, wooden sun decks, covered day beds and all the amenities one would expect from a top line home or five star suite.
There is a deli service to stock your refrigerator and it would be great if Luke Mangan would do room service to the villas (although the alternative is also of a high standard). There is a full spa, a large modern gym with personal training and facilities for meetings, events and weddings. The location is within walking distance to Seminyak’s bar scene. Veteran Conrad and Hilton hotelier Sashi Rajan recently joined as Resort Manager, and service to the villas is quick and friendly. A sister property is opening next year on Echo Beach, Sea Sentosa.
