Berlin, Germany — A new luxury helicopter service catering to high-end travelers in Mauritius is set to launch in the next several months. The announcement was made here at ITB, the largest travel fair in the world.
According to Philippe Hitie, Managing Director of Summertimes, an inbound travel company, Helitimes will feature two six passenger Eurocopter AS-355-F2s. The sister company will operate from the country’s Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport with a newly constructed private terminal. Passengers will be transferred airside from inbound flights via tarmac limousine and full concierge services will be available.
Continued development of elite traveler style accomodations with One & Only, Luxury Collection and now new brand Nira and a St. Regis set to open in early 2011 have meant an influx of private jets according to Hitie.
Bernard de Villele, General Manager of the St. Regis noted the service will mean quick transfers for arriving and departing guests. Helicopter transfer times will range to about 10 minutes compared with car drives of over one hour.
