LEVIEV Boutique To Open in Moscow

By Pardhasaradhi Gonuguntla

(New York, NY) – LEVIEV, the world’s most exclusive diamond jewelry brand, is proud to open its first Eastern European flagship in Russia in June 2008. The store, LEVIEV’s third boutique, following London Old Bond Street, which opened May 2006 and New York Madison Avenue, which opened November 2007, will be located at 7 Kuznetski Most and will house the brand’s largest collection of rare, large, white and colored diamonds, making it the ultimate destination for diamond connoisseurs. When LEVIEV opens, it will host over 5,000 carats in white and colored diamonds, making it easily the most important diamond jewelry store in the city.

“We are excited to open in Moscow, whose wealth has grown phenomenally in just a few years,” says Thierry Chaunu, President & Chief Operating Officer of LEVIEV, “Moscow is home to some of the savviest and wealthiest connoisseurs anywhere in the world.”

Located in a turn-of-the-century Russian Baroque style designated landmark building at the corner of Kuznetski Most and Petrovka, which is one of Moscow’s most prestigious streets, the boutique will present two floors of retail and private salons. Drawing upon the rich history of the Kuznetski Most District, which two-hundred years ago was an area of blacksmith workshops and fine French boutique houses, WYS Design Architects of New York have created an inviting interior, in keeping with the style of that time. Its elegant and refined features include stoned flooring; taupe pleated silk paneled walls; marble, ivory, and bronze showcases; as well as complimenting furniture including a mohair sofa, silk pink chair, and ivory leather-clad desks.

Connecting the upper and lower levels is a newly conceived curved marble staircase that brings both spaces together. The upper level private VIP salon space is to be housed in a restored 19th-century rotunda with hardwood parquet flooring and hand-painted flowery ceilings surrounded by opal blue walls with rich brown oak monumental doors. Both floors will feature original antique Venetian mirrors as well as antique chandeliers including a splendid Baltic chandelier dating from 1750 that will be the salon’s focal point.

Lev Leviev, Chairman of LEVIEV, notes, “Moscow is like a second home to me. I have many friends and associates, and this store will be like a second home to them. I take great pride in our latest addition, which will showcase some of my most extraordinary diamonds as well as a wide range of attractive new designs.”

Mr. Leviev has chosen to appoint Stella Aminova to Managing Director in Russia. Ms. Aminova, who is well known and respected in Moscow’s vibrant high society, brings a keen sense of luxury and of course, a passion for diamond jewelry. She comments, “We are thrilled to open Moscow’s most elegant, and undoubtedly the most important diamond jewelry store. We at LEVIEV will showcase an impressive collection of white and colored diamonds, second to none. Our sales professionals will provide LEVIEV’s discerning clientele with expert advice, and unsurpassed customized service.”

In addition to the brand’s mainstay of diamonds, the Moscow boutique will also house LEVIEV’s collection of men’s and women’s watches, a men’s jewelry collection as well as a variety of precious colored gems, pearls and gold & platinum pieces. Diamond necklaces, earrings, rings, brooches, bracelets, and cufflinks are just some of the incredible pieces that will open the Moscow store.

A formal inauguration event will be announced at a later date for the fall, gathering Moscow’s financial, political, and cultural elites to celebrate the exciting arrival of LEVIEV, the “Diamantaire Extraordinaire.”
