Taking its name from ‘Monks Place’, Munich is the capital city of Bavaria in Germany and is located at the foot of the Alps. Home to luxury car manufacturer BMW, it is the country’s third most populous city with over 1.3 million inhabitants. The city comes second only to New York in the number of publishing companies per square mile. As Munich continues to rank in the top ten most livable destinations in the world, there has been no better time to visit Munich.
After being bombed in World War II, many of its buildings were restored to the Rathaus period, which gives Munich a luxurious revamp impression unlike other post-war cities. Globally known as being a well planned city, this destination is also home to some of the world’s most renowned festivals, including the annual beer festival, Oktoberfest. The museums and galleries in the city are among the most impressive in Germany and arguably compete with those of Berlin.
