Hilton has added another exclusive resort to its growing collection of LXR properties: Umana Bali. Situated on the Indonesian island’s southernmost tip in Ungasan, the stunning hotel is the brand’s first outpost in Southeast Asia.
Designed to make the most of this breathtaking location, Umana Bali features just 72 luxury villas peppered across the limestone cliffs. The resort – which takes its name from uma, the Balinese word for paddy field – has direct access to the powdery white shores of Melasti Beach.
Hilton brought in WATG and Wimberly Interiors for the project. Each of the breezy, light-filled villas includes a private infinity-edge pool, outdoor hot tub, and lavish marble bathroom complete with a deep soaking tub.

The most exclusive abodes of all are the sprawling three-bedroom villas, each of which is set within its own 12,000-sq-ft estate. These opulent properties feature several indoor and outdoor communal living spaces making them ideal for larger groups and families.
Elsewhere at Umana Bali, guests can relax and unwind at The Lohma Spa. The resort offers an array of wellness treatments rooted in holistic ancient healing traditions alongside more contemporary therapies. It’s also well worth trying out a collective sound healing session or taking part in a cold-water immersion class.
When it comes to dining at Umana Bali, there’s plenty of choice. The clifftop restaurant, Oliverra, serves vibrant Mediterranean fare while the menu at Commune celebrates Southeast Asian cuisine with dishes prepared on the spit-roast grill. Both eateries are centered around high-quality local produce; 80% of ingredients are sourced from local farms and the resort’s vegetable garden.
After dinner, head to the Pad Pool Bar or Mer Lounge for a nightcap. The resort is also set to launch a water-front Peruvian restaurant, Uma Beach House, opening in April 2024.
It would be easy never to step foot outside the resort but for those eager to explore the surrounding area, Umana Bali offers some incredible experiences from helicopter rides over Mount Batur to stargazing with a resident astronomer.
“Umana Bali will showcase our commitment to creating exceptional story-worthy adventures for discerning travelers in the world’s most incredible destinations,” commented Feisal Jaffer, global head of LXR Hotels & Resorts.
“We look forward to offering adventurers distinctive, immersive experiences that reflect the beauty and charm of this beloved Island of the Gods.”
