Overview

Supremely located mid-mountain at Northstar California Resort, The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe is about as ski-in/ski-out as a hotel can come.

The main town sits just 10 minutes away, but the resort feels like a village in itself. A large spa, three heated swimming pools, four restaurants and a fireside terrace, The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe somehow retains an intimate ski chalet feel whilst providing all the amenities of a big resort.

While the skiing is world-class, Lake Tahoe remains a popular year-round destination. The resort sits just minutes away from several lakefront beaches and has its dedicated summer BBQ-inspired restaurant. Guests are also granted privileges to some of Northern California’s best golf courses.

Whether you go in summer or winter, the Presidential Suite is a natural choice for the Elite Traveler reader. The 1,900-sq-ft suite gets the very best out of The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe in both amenities and service.

The separate living and dining room allows guests the opportunity to unwind after a long day of skiing in front of a fire and a big-screen TV. The suite is undeniably at its best during the darker months with its dark wooden beams and natural stone creating a cozy atmosphere.

Head down to Manzanita for some of the best Californian cuisine in Lake Tahoe. The fine dining restaurant serves modern dishes using seasonal ingredients and comes with a killer wine list filled with labels from local vineyards. Be sure to check out the daily apres-ski hour on the outdoor terrace, complete with champagne and oysters.

The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Lake Tahoe is also a must-visit in the winter months. With 17 treatment rooms, the spa offers a dedicated foot ritual to heal those aching muscles after a day on the slopes. Treatments are inspired by Lake Tahoe culture,  It also has its own heated lap pool, complete with mountain views, exclusively for spa guests.
