Rosewood Hong Kong, Hong Kong

It stands on the Kowloon waterfront and boasts astonishing views over the harbor.

By Samantha Coles

You can’t miss Rosewood Hong Kong — located in the trendy arts-and-design district, the 65-story building soars into the sky. It stands on the Kowloon waterfront and boasts astonishing views over the harbor and the twinkling Hong Kong cityscape beyond.

Stay

Manor Suite

Size – 1,873 sq ft Nightly rate – From $4,475

Regular guests of Rosewood hotels know that the Manor Suites are always the most spectacular, and this 1,873-sq-ft, one-bedroom suite is no exception. Relish the beautiful design elements; Taiwanese-born, New York-based designer Tony Chi is known for his eye for detail (he also designed Rosewood London’s chic interiors, describing that hotel as a city house and Rosewood Hong Kong as a country house). The marble-clad bathroom is to die for with monochrome diamond-shaped flooring, a giant Arabescotto free-standing tub and hammered-copper, his-and-her sinks. As the Manor Suite is on the 30th floor, the views through the floor-to-ceiling windows are so exceptional that you might struggle to tear yourself away, but that’s okay—your butler can arrange a sumptuous dinner in your suite’s dining room. If you’re in town for a little longer, the Rosewood Residences are among the most spacious in Hong Kong with large, luxurious living spaces and private outdoor terraces.

Dine

Whatever you’re in the mood for, the hotel’s five restaurants will more than satisfy. The Butterfly Room is a whimsical spot for afternoon tea (check out the mounted butterflies from Damien Hirst’s Zodiac series) and Butterfly Patisserie sells delectable treats in a space more akin to a high-jewelry store. The Legacy House serves Chinese and Shunde cuisine in cool, sleek surroundings—reserve a private room for an intimate evening. Holt’s Café is a modern twist on Hong Kong’s traditional Cha Chaan Teng experience (traditionally an eclectic mix of cuisines served in an informal, homey setting). Darkside is a sultry and seductive bar clad in purple velvet and green leather. Enjoy a cigar and a glass of Grande Champagne cognac while listening to live jazz.

Relax

Asaya, meaning ‘to set an intention or hope’ in Sanskrit, is the brand’s first urban outpost where you can embark on an all-encompassing wellness retreat. Tailor-made plans can be created for your individual needs—expect holistic therapies and alternative treatments, healthy cuisine and a membership program for residents and returning guests. Set over two floors, it comprises an enormous gym (2,798 sq ft) and an 82-ft infinity pool on the sixth floor that overlooks the harbor.
