Saffire Freycinet

By Chris Boyle

Aerial View / Saffire Freycinet

Indulge in Tasmania’s ultimate luxury sanctuary. Distinct in its design, exclusive in its features, and set apart by its approach to individually tailored experiences and service, Saffire Freycinet features 20 luxury accommodation suites, each with sweeping views of Great Oyster Bay and the Hazards Mountains and complete privacy from the neighboring suites.

Designed by award-winning Tasmanian architects, Circa Morris-Nunn Architects, the buildings are conceptually organic, reflecting the surrounding environment. Saffire evokes a connection to the sea, through references of waves, sea creatures, sand dunes, and a flowing, organic form. Tasmania’s freshest produce and finest wine and beer are showcased in Palate restaurant and The Lounge bar. All guests can restore their wellbeing in the premium spa facilities and on-site gym. Exclusive Signature Experiences access little-known areas of the Freycinet Peninsula, and a range of other experiences and activities can be tailored to suit guests’ desires.

Suite style: The interior design for Saffire is inspired by the natural environment, a pristine coastal landscape. The purity of the environment is reflected in a fresh, modern, relaxing, and uncontrived design style. In the suites, rug designs incorporate graphic representations of local fauna and lampshades and cushions are wrapped in “panama” fabric, like the classic straw hat. Furniture shapes are contemporary but not hard-edged, with an extensive use of timber, custom woven fabrics, and leather. Among the custom designed and crafted pieces are original, classic contemporary pieces by luminaries such as Ray and Charles Eames.

Key selling points: The Private Pavilion offers the highest standard of luxury accommodation of all suites and features a separate bedroom and dining area with a kitchen, allowing you to choose a dinner-in-suite option with your chef. A plunge pool takes center stage in the extended private courtyard.
