Abano Grand Hotel Opens New Venezia Spa and Aqua Center

By Chris Boyle

The Abano Grand Hotel is the only five star deluxe hotel in Padua and has introduced the new Venezia Spa and Aqua Water Center as an expansion of its distinguished Anti-Aging Thermal Spa. The classic European hotel is best known for its world-class spa that offers natural thermal water and mud therapy treatments that produce anti-aging effects to rejuvenate the body, soul and mind. Launching April 10, Abano Grand Hotel’s spa enhancement creates a new wellness sanctuary for guests and features a grotto, series of thermal baths, saunas and showers in a classic Venetian setting reminiscent of the Italian Baroque era.

Located within the existing Anti-Aging Thermal Spa that now boats more than 26,000 square feet of space, the spacious Venezia Spa embodies the city of Venice with deep red and rich gold colors, natural stone pillars and dramatic open-air spaces. Guests are invited to a world of serenity at Venezia Spa, entirely dedicated to personal wellness, in a calming atmosphere with décor that includes bright colors and antique textures to complement the spa’s contemporary architecture. The 4,950-square foot indoor facility features quartzite floors and stone-wall showers to emit energy, light and heat for healing purposes.

“The Anti-Aging Thermal Spa continues to evolve and we are thrilled to introduce Venezia Spa and Aqua Water Center to our guests,” said Chiara Borile, Marketing Manager of Abano Grand Hotel. “There is no other place in the world that perfectly merges the historic charm and tranquility of the destination with the cutting edge therapeutic thermal treatments and facilities offered at the Abano Grand Hotel.”Abano Grand Hotels - Anti-aging Thermal Spa

Venezia Spa is comprised of four distinct areas in an authentic, tranquil setting, which include Campo d’Argilla (Clay Field), Corte del Vapore (Steam Courtyard), Isola della Sauna (Sauna Island) and Calle del Freddo (Cold Alley).

Campo d’Argilla: Paying tribute to the ancient Roman times, guests will be greeted in Venezia Spa’s Clay Field where old traditions of wet treatments are combined with the innovation of thermal wellness and comfort. Rooms are equipped with different temperatures and humidity levels, including a dry heat room and another wet room with increased humidity and heat. The combination of these diverse conditions of warm-dry and warm-humid creates the best possible conditions for body purification and revitalization. Do-it-yourself mud, salts, clays and special black soap are accessible to accentuate and reinforce the dry heat and moist heat effects for hydration, cleansing and improving the respiratory system.

Corte del Vapore: With Venice being the eternal gateway to the Middle East, the Steam Courtyard combines the concepts of Roman bathhouses with Arab steam rooms. Heat, water and steam all come together in a single room to create a unique thermal steam bath that revitalizes and refreshes the skin’s elasticity. Similar to a steam sauna, this second phase opens the respiratory system and reduces stress in a relaxing environment to strengthen guests’ body and spirit. Natural essences, music and lights complement the steam for a complete immersion in the upmost of thermal wellness and comfort.

Isola della Sauna: Venezia Spa’s Sauna Island is comprised of a wooden Finnish-style dry sauna practicing salt therapy. Utilizing natural regional ingredients and influenced by the history, tradition and romance of the Venetian countryside, Isola della Sauna is structured with blocks of pink rock salt walls and filled with fragrances of eucalyptus, fir and pine. Temperatures range from 176-194˚F with very low humidity levels and the combination of all the scents creates a magical stress-free environment with beneficial medical effects of opening skin pores and removing toxins.

Calle del Freddo: Following the intense dry heat of the sauna, the spa’s Cold Alley is a stimulating and refreshing area to cool down and re-establish the body’s balance. Switching from the dramatic heat in Isola della Sauna to the icy chill in Calle del Freddo has an awakening effect on the body and produces lasting benefits for the skin. Within the Cold Alley are Nebbia della Laguna (Mist Lagoon) and Pioggia d’Inverno (Winter Rain). Guests are encouraged to dive into each of these three elements for two short 30-second cycles during this final process. The Mist Lagoon consists of a cool vapor of mint aromatherapy and blue-light chromo therapy for a chilling effect to energize the body, and the Winter Rain area features small droplets of cold water, ice lemon aromatherapy and green-light chromo therapy to firm, refresh and energize the skin. Lastly, the Iceberg of San Marco is an ice-made waterfall for guests to use as a final body scrub for complete revitalization before leaving the journey of Venezia Spa.

Also opening in April 2014 in conjunction with Venezia Spa is the new Aqua Water Center. The third component to the spa experience at Abano Grand Hotel, the 4,950-square foot Aqua Center is a new fitness area with scenic views of the hotel’s parkland and thermal pools. This wellness space will be dedicated to personal training and fitness consultations with a medical approach from a highly trained team of experts including a sports doctor, coach, nutritionist and spa physician. The qualified specialists are accessible to create integrated training programs and tailor custom spa treatments, exercises and relaxation techniques that cater to each guest and focus on general fitness workouts, weight loss, flexibility and mobility, back pain treatment and sports training. For spa reservations, please call +39 049 8665 800 or visit www.abanograndhotel.com for more information.
