Acapulco, Mexico – Reported by Elite Traveler, the Private Jet Lifestyle Magazine
One of Mexico’s most renowned beach destinations, Acapulco has been the choice vacation spot for the world’s most elite jet setters since the 1950’s. Today, a “new” Acapulco is being unveiled, led by an array of new hotels and resorts. These projects, coupled with the existing collection of world-class hotels, innovative cuisine, spectacular beaches, rich culture and timeless glamour, prepare to further enhance Acapulco’s legendary appeal.
Among the current roster of upscale activities and cultural offerings, an array of ambitious hotel updates and new projects are also underway in Acapulco. In November 2009, Acapulco welcomed Hotel Encanto, a unique boutique hotel and spa located in the Brisas Marques areas of Acapulco. A $20 million investment, Hotel Encanto is the vision of renowned Mexican architect Miguel Angel Aragones. The hotel features 44-rooms, 22 of which feature a private pool on the balcony, and a full-service with spa eight treatment rooms.
Also coming this spring is the Hotel Boca Chica, a new project from Grupo Habita, the acclaimed and trend-setting Mexican hotelier. Partnering with Mexican architects Frida Rojas and Jose Escobedo as well as Fernando Romero, owner of the famed hotel located in the Traditional Zone of Acapulco, Grupo Habita has fully renovated and restored the property’s 36 guest rooms back to it’s original 1950’s glamour. Boca Chica is slated for completion in March 2010 and is currently accepting reservations.
Currently in development in the exclusive Diamante Zone is the new cliff-top Banyan Tree Cabo Marqués hotel, scheduled to open in February 2009. As the first luxury, all-villa spa resort in the region, Banyan Tree Cabo Marques will offer stunning accommodations, world-class amenities and a Banyan Tree Gallery of arts and crafts from around the world. The property will also feature the award-winning Banyan Tree Spa Complex, consisting of seven spa treatment pavilions.
The Grand Hotel Acapulco & Convention Center, formerly known as the Hyatt Acapulco, began the first stages of an extensive renovation and remodeling project this past May. Renovations will include new room categories, 200 of which will be completed and opened in December 2009. The remodeling will ultimately include renovations to the hotel lounges, restaurants and pools, as well as include the construction of a new, exclusive spa.
The Fairmont Acapulco Princess, one of the destination’s most beloved hotels, recently introduced the Pearl. Located on the Fairmont Princess property and following a $30 million renovation, this hotel offers luxurious accommodations and world-class services along with private pool exclusive to Pearl guests.
