By Pardhasaradhi Gonuguntla

New York, New York – Reported by Elite Traveler, the Private Jet Lifestyle Magazine

From July 1-3, 2010, guests at Amandari, the tranquil resort getaway near Ubud, Bali, will be treated to an open-air festival of film classics devoted exclusively to Balinese dance, presented in partnership with the French Cinematheque of Dance and the Swedish Dance Museum.

Films will be screened in Kedewatan’s village Love Powder).

On July 2, Amandari will screen a film of Rolf de Maré’s 1938 expedition to Nias, Sulawesi, Sunda, Java and Bali, preceded by a short montage of photographs of de Maré presented by Erik Naslund, director of the Dansmuseet of Stockholm, Sweden and author of a biography of Rolf de Maré, a Swedish art collector and leader of the Ballets Suedois in Paris in the 1920s. This rarely seen, fragile film is silent and will be screened with musical accompaniment by two or four musicians.

And on July 3, Amandari will present a special screening of 1930’s Island of Bali/La Isla de Bali, directed by Miguel Covarrubias, and accompanied by a documentary on the life and works of the Mexican caricaturist, author and painter.
