Amanresorts Villa Milocer Opens New Suites

Though open for only a matter of months, Villa Miločer has already captured the attention of world travelers excited by the renaissance of one of Europe’s favorite playgrounds, orchestrated by Amanresorts. With only eight suites (six in the main villa, now joined by two in an adjacent two-story house), Villa Miločer is small and discreet. It is set on 79 acres and among 800 olive trees, embraced on three sides by ancient cedar and pine forests.

Once the summer residence of Queen Marija Karadordevic of Yugoslavia (great granddaughter of Queen Victoria) and later of Marshall Josip Tito (leader of Yugoslavia until 1980), Villa Miločer has been renovated from head to toe and now offers the flawless service for which Amanresorts is renowned. It is the first phase of the redevelopment of the island of Sveti Stefan located across the bay and connected by a small causeway. Once a fortified fishing village, the island’s houses and lanes will be reopened to the world as Aman Sveti Stefan. Villa Miločer and the Aman Sveti Stefan will offer a combined total of 55 guest rooms and suites.

“I have always been attracted to the natural beauty and elegant coastline of Montenegro,” states Adrian Zecha, founder of Amanresorts, “and it is an honor to be able to breathe new life into such storied properties as Villa Miločer and the island of Sveti Stefan. Welcoming guests into Aman Sveti Stefan’s Villa Miločer has been a pleasure, and we are fully committed to the careful and complex restoration of the island so that this national heritage can be appreciated for a least another 100 years.”

Villa Miločer’s six spacious suites blend the regal grandeur of old Europe with contemporary comfort and style. Parquet floors are warmed by woolen rugs while fireplaces take center stage. Leather chairs and silk accents bring a brightness to the living quarters, where bathrooms feature free-standing bathtubs and timber wardrobes. Each of the suites has a Juliet balcony with views either of the sea and the island of Sveti Stefan or of the Miločer gardens. The two new Queen Marija Suites, housed in a separate structure, each feature a bedroom, bathroom, living room and dining room, with fireplaces in both the living room and bedroom.

The Dining Room, Loggia and Living Room showcase fresh produce from nearby markets and locally-caught seafood. With only seven tables, the intimate Dining Room surrounds a large open fireplace and looks out on Miločer Beach. The Loggia features a wisteria-covered colonnade and large day bed for taking in the views of Sveti Stefan island during breakfast, lunch or dinner. And the Living Room includes a cozy lounge where guests come for afternoon tea, evening cocktails and breathtaking views.
