New York, New York – Reported by Elite Traveler, the private jet lifestyle magazine
New York-based artist Jason Oliva and South African winemaker Dirk Roos have joined forces to create Stripey Horse, the first release of Jason Oliva Wine, which is part of an ongoing collaboration to produce a yearly, private label, limited-edition wine.
Stripey Horse is an exclusive 250 bottle release of a 2008 Bordeaux-style blend of South African Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with Jason Oliva’s Stripey Horse painting adorning the labels. Twenty years in the making, Jason began to entertain the idea of having one of his paintings appear on a wine label after seeing his artist-inspiration, Keith Haring, do the same with the bottle labels of Chateau Mouton Rothschild in 1988.
During a chance meeting in 2010, Jason Oliva met veteran winemaker Dirk Roos and the two agreed to join forces to create this one-of-a-kind product. Dirk Roos, hailing from the vineyards of Stellenbosch, comes from a winemaking family that has been a staple of South Africa’s wine industry since 1963. Roos’ environmental wine production philosophy and Jason’s earth conscious aesthetic make for an ideal partnership and a truly authentic addition to any wine or art collection.
