Belmond to Host Virtual Cooking Class with Raymond Blanc

By Alex Martin

Luxury hotel and travel company Belmond will host a virtual cooking class with Michelin star chef Raymond Blanc live on Instagram as part of its blossoming Invitations program.

Belmond, which operates some of the world’s most luxurious hotels, train services and river cruises throughout the world, has seen a significant downturn in business due to the Covid-19 pandemic. But even though travel is on pause for the moment, Belmond is attempting to keep our wanderlust alive by hosting online sessions with some of its most influential and innovative partners.

Blanc, the man behind two-Michelin-starred Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, will reveal some of his culinary secrets during a live Instagram broadcast on the Belmond channel on Saturday, April 11.

The French chef will show viewers how to prepare a beautiful Easter feast using as much seasonal produce as possible. The menu will include pistou soup, slow-roasted shoulder of spring lamb and chocolate mousse. The list of ingredients is available here.

The cooking class is just one of a number of innovative virtual experiences on offer from Belmond over the Easter weekend and beyond. Performances are curated in collaboration with a number of ambassadors who specialize in home-based activities from meditation to floral design. The opening two programs were hosted by British pianist Joe Stilgoe and yoga guru Nadia Narain Phillips.

This weekend, guests can also enjoy a masterclass from celebrity florist Simon Lycett, who has provided floral arrangements for the royal family and Elton John. Simon will host an Easter-themed workshop on Friday, April 10. It will be specifically tailored to families with many of the activities suitable for little ones, such as egg painting tips and tricks.

Belmond also plans to host a poetry reading with actress Gala Gordan and producer Isabelle MacPherson on April 17, and a baking class with Irish chef Clodagh McKenna on April 24.

All you need to do to take part on any of the activities is follow Belmond’s Instagram page and keep an eye out for its live broadcast on your chosen date. All of the broadcasts will also be made available on the Belmond Instagram page so you can watch them back at any time.
