The Homestead at &Beyond Phinda Private Game Reserve, a luxurious sole-use safari villa in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, will welcome its first guests on August 1, 2009.
With just four elegant suites, The Homestead is ideal for families or small groups of up to eight people and offers the perfect safari experience for people wanting to reconnect with family and friends. The spacious homestead’s use of glass, open layout and a natural form is a perfect complement to the bush outside. The Homestead has a dedicated team of staff, including a private ranger, tracker, butler and private chef.
Guests at The Homestead have the exclusive use of an open 4×4 safari vehicle allowing them to choose their own schedule – game drives on &Beyond Phinda at any time of the day or night followed by sunbathing next to the large rim-flow infinity pool, relaxing in the spacious sitting areas or, for the more energetic, spending time in the state-of-the-art private gym or enjoying a bush walk with their ranger. An interactive kitchen provides for informal yet delicious family dining, provided by The Homestead’s private cook.
&Beyond Phinda’s 56,800 acres of pristine wilderness consist of seven distinct habitats offering incredible game viewing opportunities. In addition to twice-daily game drives, bush walks and river cruises, guests enjoy a range of exciting additional adventures, such as horseback-riding, turtle viewing or scuba diving in the nearby Indian Ocean.
&Beyond has been a pioneer in responsible, sustainable tourism, and in keeping with its practices the utmost care was taken when building The Homestead, ensuring minimum negative environmental impact. No established trees were displaced during the construction of The Homestead, and revenue from guests is used toward empowering and building facilities in the local communities near the reserve.
