New Orleans, Louisiana – Reported by Donovan Longo for Elite Traveler, the private jet lifestyle magazine
The W New Orleans-French Quarter has infused new life and energy into the hotel with a recent full- scale property renovation. By incorporating cultural aspects of New Orleans, the renovation transformed all of the 97 luxurious guest rooms, as well as an overhaul of the traditional hotel lobby which the W New Orleans-French Quarter has created into the Living Room. In addition the W New Orleans-French Quarter has also expanded its accommodations, now offering SWEAT, a state-of-the-art fitness center, WET, the W’s outdoor courtyard pool surrounded by breathtaking foliage and an iron gate that transports you to the French Rivera. The W also added a new a signature restaurant, SoBou, which incorporates Creole concepts and cultures unique to the city.
“As the W brand continues to evolve, opening new hotels from Paris to Milan, Bangkok to Singapore, we are committed to creating a consistent, cutting-edge experience for our jetset guests. The renovation is critical to enhancing the overall guest experience while also drawing in locals with a very personalized touch,” said James Wroblewski, general manager for W New Orleans-French Quarter.
The W worked with nemaworkshop, an interior design and architecture firm based in New York City to redesign the guest rooms. The design incorporates the bold art and jazz influences, while also integrating tarot and voodoo that can only be found all together in New Orleans. The guest rooms are composed of modern sharp lines, black and white tones mixed with vibrant gold tones and rich primary colors relevant to the room design motif. In addition to the new guest room design the in-room technology has also been advanced with new 40” Plasma TVs and the addition of a “jackpack,” offering the ability to stream directly onto the TVs.
SoBou—the name of which is the contraction, “South of Bourbon Street”— offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menu created by Executive Chef Juan Carlos Gonzalez is inspired by local ingredients and flavors and features inspired small plates to pair with drinks from classic cocktails to local craft brews. SoBou was also designed by nemaworkshop, and continues the bold artistic and mysterious voodoo theme throughout the décor of the restaurant. One feels transported into a spirited apothecary, where floor-to-ceiling walls are clad in bottles, in addition if your eyes travel up above your own table you will be matched with a stare from women’s eye which are fixed in the hanging brass jazz inspired light fixture.
The W is revealing the bold designs and luxurious guest rooms in a promotional REVEAL package, including a two night stay in a redesigned guest room, breakfast for two at SoBou, and specialty cocktails for two exclusively from the W’s Bar Chef Abigail Gullo.
