San Francisco – Bonhams today announced further development of its U.S. motoring sales calendar with a sale at one of the North East’s most popular and long established collector car events, the Greenwich Concours d’Elegance.
Since 1995 the Greenwich Concours has brought together enthusiasts and collectors for two days of friendly competition in a garden party atmosphere at the Roger Sherman Baldwin Park, overlooking Greenwich Harbor, Connecticut.
In addition to being an important date in the concours circuit for more than a decade, the early summer event has become known for its collector car auction that has seen millions of dollars in automobiles change hands. Starting this year, this auction will now be conducted by Bonhams.
Says Greenwich Concours founder Bruce Wennerstrom, “Bonhams’ experience and reputation in the automotive world is renowned, and we are very pleased to partner with them in this exciting celebration of the automobile.”
“Bonhams is delighted to be working with Bruce and Genia Wennerstrom and enhancing our American auction schedule with a presence at one of the foremost events in the country,” says Rupert Banner, Bonhams’ VP of Business Development for the US Motoring Department. “For Bonhams, we are confident that the widespread coverage this event receives and the close proximity to many car collectors will prove a winning combination for sellers and buyers alike. The take-up already has been impressive with a number of significant entries consigned to date.”
These highlights include:
-The ex-Ralph Salyer 1965 McLaren-Chevrolet M1A “Cro-Sal” Special
-1934 Aston Martin MkII Sport Saloon, coachwork by Bertelli
-1915 Stutz Bearcat
-1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SEL 3.5 Convertible
