LUCERNE, Switzerland — GaultMillau Switzerland and its sponsoring-partner, the Lucerne watch manufacturer
Carl F. Bucherer, have voted. The “Hotel of the year 2008” has been confirmed. The crown for extraordinary Swiss ‘hotelsmanship’ goes to the Grand Hotel Kronenhof in Pontresina. On 25 August, the “2008 Hotel of the Year” Award was presented by GaultMilliau Switzerland and Carl F. Bucherer to the Grand Hotel Kronenhof, which has been under the management of Heinz E. and Jenny Hunkeler since autumn 2006. Attending the festive occasion in the hotel’s grounds were Thomas Morf, CEO of Carl F. Bucherer, and Boris Blank, the watch brand’s ambassador, together with many guests from the political and tourism circles in the Engadine. “The Kronenhof has always worn a crown, but this distinction gives it another more beautiful one, indeed the most beautiful crown”, acknowledged Heinz E. Hunkeler proudly in his speech of thanks.
For the second time now, Carl F. Bucherer acted as sponsor for the selection of the GaultMillau hotel of the year. The independent watch manufacturer with its head offices in Lucerne was pleased that the distinction was awarded to the only five-star hotel in Pontresina. The Grand Hotel Kronenhof distinguished itself through its exclusivity, innovation, tradition and high level of quality. “A hotel was selected, which reflects the values of our company and our products perfectly”, explained Bruno Jufer, Marketing Director for Carl F. Bucherer.
Carl F. Bucherer will also assist GaultMillau in its role as the main sponsor of the “hotel of the year” award in 2009. So the search for perfection will continue, whether in the hotel industry or at the Carl F. Bucherer Manufacture.
