London, England – Reported by Elite Traveler, the private jet lifestyle magazine
With the official end of the summer Olympics, London is already looking towards the holidays and The Dorchester is ready with fresh, new offerings for families during the festive season. The iconic Dorchester Collection property located in the heart of Mayfair always welcomes families of all sizes. This year, the luxury hotel introduces the “Family Time” package, available in a Superior King Room from about $645, which includes a complimentary room nearby for two Little VIPs under age 16, as well as English breakfast for the family and a bottle of champagne for parents. This rate is available until December 31, 2012 and is subject to availability.
Another way to celebrate the season at The Dorchester is with the popular Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. With inspiration from Lewis Carroll’s beloved Alice in Wonderland and entertainment by young dancers from the English National Ballet School, as well as appearances from the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, the Dormouse and Alice pirouetting through The Promenade and stopping to share magical tales with younger guests. Adults can look forward to sinking into sofas while enjoying the entertainment with a glass of Champagne. This is available from October 29-November 2, from approximately $83 per adult and approximately $48 per child, aged 5-11.
The Promenade will also be hopping daily from November 24 through New Year’s Day with the Christmas Afternoon Tea. With a Dickensian inspired theme, the landmark Promenade will be decorated in shimmering gold and shades of emerald, with a sleigh and children’s Christmas tree on display for younger guests to decorate with cookies. In the meanwhile, traditional lunch and dinner will be served at The Grill at The Dorchester throughout, including the opportunity for children to attend Christmas Eve dinner or Christmas Day lunch to meet Father Christmas himself. Priced from approximately $83 per person.
For an artistic adventure, discover the creative touch behind the property’s holiday flower arrangements with a Festive Floral Master Class, featuring the florist of The Dorchester. The class will welcome up to 12 guests at the Spatisserie with hands-on instruction in creating a beautifully scented pinecone wreath with dried fruits, as well as a traditional posy candle arrangement for displaying at holiday dinner parties at home. The hotel’s florist will give top tips from simple wiring skills to preserving arrangements through the holiday season. Attendees can also enjoy Afternoon Tea hosted by the hotel’s florist team, followed by an indulgent Shape Up & Polish nail treatment. Whatever the occasion, The Dorchester’s Florist Team is the talent behind stunning floral displays in public spaces, guest quarters and special events, as well as for private events and home displays far from Park Lane. The Festive Floral Master Class is approximately $392 and is available December 4, 10:00am-12:00pm.
Guests can also pull up a seat for special Christmas menus at Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester and China Tang at The Dorchester. There will also be special lunch menus at The Grill on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Signature dishes include smoked salmon and Gravadlax and Angus beef with Yorkshire pudding and seasonal vegetables followed by Eccles cakes and potted stilton for dessert.
Lastly, The Dorchester will offer a festive rate from November 18, 2012 to January 31, 2013 with rooms starting from approximately $422 and suites, including breakfast, from approximately $1,090.
