Jaipur, India – Reported by Elite Traveler, the Private Jet Lifestyle Magazine
Devi Ratn, a sister hotel to the popular Devi Garh, will open just outside Jaipur, on the Agra road, in October 2010. If Devi Garh could be described as ‘the past meeting the present’, well Devi Ratn may well be ‘the future’. This hugely refreshing, modern addition to the Jaipur hotel scene and will suit many who are less inclined to stay in palaces and traditional hotels and to those who want to be out in the countryside.
The hotel is a brilliant combination of traditional elements and strong Indian colors but used in a totally modern, futuristic way. There are 3 villas split on two levels with their own pools and gardens. The 60 rooms are split into 3 categories. These are enormous with black and white terrazzo floors and 4 different colour themes dominate the different rooms. Covered walkways lead to gardens from bedrooms. Wherever you look from different levels you look on grassy gardens or the surrounding woodland. The whole structure flows from one exceptional shape and sculptured building to another. Shapes merge into each other. Due to the softly textured stone and stunning materials used, things glitter and move. The overall colour scheme is a soft terracotta /red with black, grey and white. There is much use of glass and the whole place is light and open and flows seamlessly from place to place. It’s exceedingly easy on the eye, wherever one looks.
A huge and exceptional spa will be state of the art. The dining room is gold and silver and has heavenly views. The raised private dining machan is more like the ramp at the Jantar Mantar and much of this hotel’s architectural concepts echo the Jaipur Jantar Mantar design and layout. There is a huge organic vegetable garden. The wonderful bar with sky light – all black and silver and incredible lighting – will make you feel you are moving when sitting there.
