New York, N.Y. – The luxury hotel brand, Dorchester Collection, is getting set to open 45 Park Lane, a new property in the heart of London’s Mayfair district. The 50-room hotel, which is slated to open in 2010, will be the eighth address in the Collection, joining iconic hotels including The Dorchester in London, The Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, Le Meurice and Hotel Plaza Athénée in Paris, Hotel Principe di Savoia in Milan, The New York Palace in New York, and Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles.
With its impressive complement of 50 guest rooms and suites, 45 Park Lane will offer all-day dining as well as a central location mere yards from its sister hotel, The Dorchester. The new property will be contemporary in style, with design by world-renowned designer Thierry Despont, who has been appointed to work on the project. Externally, the building’s concrete-clad façade will be revamped to incorporate special eco-friendly “fins” that will diminish solar gain, significantly reducing the power required to run the air-conditioning system.
Dorchester Collection has ambitious plans for growth, which includes the recently announced addition of two new hotels in New York and Los Angeles, The New York Palace Hotel and Hotel Bel-Air. Commenting on 45 Park Lane, Christopher Cowdray, CEO of Dorchester Collection, says, “All our hotels have their own style of individuality and this new hotel will be no exception. We are targeting 15 hotels in key North American and European cities in the next 5 to 10 years and to have secured another landmark hotel in London is of tremendous benefit to our portfolio.”
