Luxury boutique hotel Eden Roc at Cap Cana, by Solaya Hotels & Resorts, elevates the culinary experience in Punta Cana with its Mediterraneo Restaurant.
Showcasing fine Mediterranean cuisine created by Executive Chef Gianluca Re Fraschini, Mediterraneo presents a dining experience, for both breakfast and dinner, unlike any other in the area.
Eden Roc at Cap Cana, a premier hotel located in the much-desired Punta Cana area on the eastern tip of the Dominican Republic, is the first Relais & Châteaux property in the country. The epitome of luxury, the property encompasses 34 beautifully designed suites and boasts extravagant amenities such six superior dining venues and a full service spa.
Mediterraneo’s menu, which exudes a journey of flavors and ingredients from Mediterranean cultures, blends local elements with specialties flown in from artisanal suppliers in Europe.
“Our objective is to establish a destination for culinary enthusiasts who appreciate the intricacies of fine cuisine,” explained Paolo Sanavia, CEO of Solaya Hotels & Resorts, when the restaurant opened in February this year.
“Our four dining establishments, which include La Palapa, Gastronomico, Riva Bar, La Cava and Blue Lagoon – in addition to Mediterraneo – provide distinct experiences while always presenting beautifully crafted offerings that exceed guest expectations.”
The breakfast offering includes an appetizing buffet spread with traditional favorites and local staples, such as an organic egg station, pancakes, fruit, cheeses and meats. Guests can enjoy the daily fresh items available including baked breads, muffins and desserts as well as fresh juices such as pineapple, carrot and cucumber.
Local items from La Altagracia region handpicked by Chef Re Fraschini himself include raw goat milk, tropical bee wildflower honeycomb, homemade goat cheese with fine herbs and seasonal fruit marmalades.
In the evening, Mediterraneo presents an impeccable menu for four courses. Guests can begin with a cold or hot appetizer; among the delicious options is the foiegras terrine or red snapper carpaccio.
For the intermezzo, diners have the option of carnaroli rice in squid ink, capon consommé with pistachio tortellini or pasta maltagliati with sautéed langoustines and morel mushrooms in lobster bisque.
For the main course, perfectly prepared red snapper fillet, Angus fillet or Wagyu long-bone rib-eye steakare available.
To end the experience, a fine selection of cheeses and dessert including favorites such as rose macaron, pineapple semifreddo with heart of Mojito and sablé Breton or Chocolate fondant with dates and cinnamon ice cream are just divine.
Complementing the delectable menu is the alluring ambiance at Mediterraneo. The décor presents a subtle elegance, rich yet simple. Guests enter into a fantastic room with two large white iron chandeliers, showcasing the high ceilings and perfectly reflecting the coral stone flooring.
Beautiful Italian drapery in ivory, lime green and purpledecorates the floor-to-ceiling windows. The dining tables are perfectly positioned with generous space in between providing an airy atmosphere; large deep brown wooden tables with rattan chairs make one feel like at a home dining table. For alfresco dining, Mediterraneo has a charming terrace area that overlooks the pool and lush greenery beyond.
Mediterraneo is open daily for breakfast, from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and for dinner, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m
