NEW YORK – EL AL, Israel’s national airline, provides assistance and support to Israeli soldiers and the citizens of Israel. The airline’s Matmid frequent flyer club has partnered with The Association for the Well-being of Israel’s Soldiers. EL AL will match 100 percent of the Matmid points that are donated to the organization by Matmid members. Donated points will enable Israeli Defense Force soldiers to travel to visit their families.
EL AL is also assisting with organizing solidarity missions from numerous cities throughout the USA which are traveling to Israel to show support, with many more being planned. Additionally, EL AL cargo will be transporting 6,000 donated beds to provide comfort to families in towns affected by the political situation in Gaza.
EL AL President Haim Romano recently visited leaders in the travel industry in cities most affected in Israel and met with the Mayors of Ashdod, Ashkelon and Sderot (pictured above). One of the newest EL AL 777 aircraft is named Sderot in honor of the town which is located in southern Israel. (Every aircraft in the EL AL fleet is named after a city in Israel.)
