Elbow Beach recently announced the completion of a $5.5 million refurbishment project to reposition the hotel as an intimate luxury resort. The refurbished Elbow Beach features 98 luxury guestrooms and suites with a new range of facilities. “We have shifted our business model to ensure Elbow Beach meets the demands of today’s tourism market. Bermuda is regarded as an upscale island paradise, which means our intimate resort is now in keeping with the type of vacation visitors expect on the island – personalised, customised service that is the hallmark of a small property,” said General Manager, Frank Stocek.
“As we enter a new chapter in the history of Elbow Beach, we are committed to delighting our guests with the finest hospitality our island has to offer and look forward to providing the next level of luxury accommodation in Bermuda,” Mr. Stocek adds.
The works also include enhancements to the public areas within the main building, poolside area, beachfront, meeting rooms and roadways. The main building now features a modernized reception area; ‘The Library’, a new recreation lounge with complimentary refreshment station; the newly renovated business center and gift shop; the upgraded fitness room and new day-use suites. The beauty salon, three banqueting suites, the Spa, and Kid’s Club also continue to operate in the main building. The half-mile private pinksand beachfront has been upgraded with new sun loungers and private cabana tents. Ocean-side spa therapies will be offered at the new Spa Beach Pavilion from June 1.
The dining and entertainment options at Elbow Beach have been restyled to reflect the repositioning of the resort. Lido, the resort’s premier dining experience with spectacular ocean views, now offers breakfast each morning and gourmet Mediterranean cuisine in the evening. A new Executive Chef with extensive experience at five-star luxury resorts around the world, Guido Brambilla, has been appointed at Lido, along with a number of new kitchen staff. The DEEP Lounge and Nightclub have been revamped as a sophisticated bar in which to enjoy live entertainment.
In addition, Sea Breeze continues to operate as a chic open-air tapas and sushi lounge, with a new open-air island bar opening later this month; Mickey’s ‘On-the-Beach’ Bistro has reopened for the 2010 summer season to offer casual dining served from an open kitchen; Blue Point Poolside Restaurant offers al fresco dining overlooking the ocean and the hotel’s in-room dining service presents a wide range of options.
The business facilities at Elbow Beach have been strengthened with transformation of the free-standing Bermuda Room into a luxurious meeting and banqueting venue for groups, weddings and social functions.
The physical enhancements at Elbow Beach are complimented by a heightened and more personal level of service resulting from a significant investment in the IT infrastructure and staff training to ensure guests are catered to at the highest standard.
The completion of the $5.5 million refurbishment and repositioning of Elbow Beach, Bermuda as a more intimate resort, follows the closure of the hotel’s 101-year-old main building guestrooms and the Seahorse Grill in November 2009. The owner’s renovation program for the historic main building remains in development.
