Elite Traveler Style Editor Tanya Dukes shares a preview of fall fashion direct from Milan’s runways.
Missoni: Missoni embraced its knitwear roots and piled on the options at that. Webby, open weaves, knit tweed, and signature zig zag effects appeared throughout, often all together in a single look. Topped with roomy, soft shouldered, coats the layers of cardigans, scarves, silk dresses and leggings, had an undeniable haute hippie effect. Accessories with touches of fur amplified the lived-in, unstructured feeling. Done in a sophisticated spectrum of grey, cream, peach, chocolate and flashes of cerulean blue, the collection is packed with easy-to-wear pieces that will fly out of stores come fall.
Ballantyne: The luxe fashion brand, also known for its fine cashmere and knitwear, certainly didn’t have a hard time committing to a precise color palette for fall. Without a doubt, pink and purple is the color statement for fall. The hues—especically in pop-y, saturated varieties—cropped up in nearly every garment shown at the brand’s Thursday afternoon presentation. Dresses or skirts paired with cardigans or trim, knit jackets had an optimistic, retro appeal thanks to the graphic, geometric prints, intarsia florals and snappy argyle that dominated.
