Milan, Italy — Reported by Elite Traveler, the Private Jet Lifestyle Magazine
Italian footwear giant Geox, beloved the world over for its unique breathable technology, opened its latest outpost in Milan during the most recent Fashion Week—bringing the company’s total number of stores worldwide to more than 1,000.
In addition to being the brand’s largest in the world, the new store boasts a highly innovative design concept. Mirroring Geox’s signature breathability, the building design works with natural sunlight to regulate the interior temperature. The bold façade was crafted with hundreds of stainless steel plates in shades of gold, copper and bronze, each perforated with micro-holes that allow the building to reflect the sun’s rays while maintaining visibility. Just like the footwear and apparel within, the new storefront is a perfect marriage of fashion and function: Thanks to the redesign, the building’s CO2 emissions have dropped by 75 percent, and the usage of air conditioning and electricity inside the store has been reduced.
Located at the heart of the city’s historical center, the cutting-edge new flagship “marks a historical moment for Geox,” according to Chairman and founder Mario Moretti Polegato, “not just because we have created the brand’s largest store in the world, but also because the whole building that houses the shop perfectly expresses and emphasizes our company’s values and messaging. We are proud of the Geox Breathing Building.”
