The Taj Coromandel Chennai hosted many celebrities during the latest Indian Premier League Season, including Katy Perry, who performed at the opening ceremony. She was greeted in the newly renovated lobby with a traditional Indian welcome of aarti tikka and garlands before being whisked off to the Royal Suite. The lavishly appointed abode marries traditional and contemporary décor, and two female butlers were designated to cater to Perry’s every need. The singer dined at Southern Spice and proclaimed the highlight of her dinner to be the elaneer payasam, the “most refreshing dessert” she had eaten.

Former pop queen turned designer Victoria Beckham was in Beijing to promote her collaboration with Range Rover for the city’s Auto China Motor Show. The 99-room urban retreat Opposite House in chic Sanlitun provided a sanctum for her during a busy week. Beckham stayed in a Studio 95 Suite, whose open-plan living space is a temple to minimalist Zen, with brushed oak finishings, black slate walls and a private balcony overlooking Beijing’s embassy district. She dined at Bei, the hotel’s restaurant featuring a fusion of cuisines from China, Korea and Japan, and made use of the fitness center’s Technogym equipment.

Australian beauty brand ModelCo commemorated its tenth anniversary with weeklong celebrations on exclusive Hayman Island earlier this year. Dannii Minogue was one of 60 VIPs who partied at the premier playground in the Great Barrier Reef. Minogue slept in sybaritic splendor in a Lagoon Suite, which boasts an elegant fit-out of natural woods and cool marbles, capacious living and sleeping areas done in neutral palettes and a double balcony that offers serene sea vistas.

On the Asian leg of her “Born This Way” tour, Lady Gaga recently checked into the opulent penthouse suite of The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong. The world’s tallest hotel soars to the 118th floor, and the en-suite marble bathroom of The Ritz-Carlton Suite features a spa bed, sauna and Jacuzzi from which to take in sweeping Victoria Harbour views. It also touts a private study, fully equipped kitchen, spacious living and dining room and walk-in closet. The hotel curated a bespoke experience for the singer, including 24-hour butler service and complimentary massages, plus monogrammed bathrobes, towels and pillow cases.
FOODIE FIND
Celebrity chef Michel Roux recently holidayed at the Sri Panwa resort in Phuket, checking into a Luxury Pool Villa for ten days. The 3,229- to 3,767-square-foot villas offer personal infinity swimming pools, jet stream Jacuzzis, outdoor bathing areas with rain showers, and an entertainment system with a fully loaded iPod. The rooftop bar Baba Nest and restaurant Baba Poolclub received a thumbs up from Michel: “As a foodie…I was spoiled for choice on variety and quality, a rare statement for a chef to make. I did not want to eat anywhere else.”
