Grand Velas Bring Haute Cuisine to Riviera Maya

Grand Velas Riviera MayaGrand Velas Riviera MayaCombining an elaborate menu that merges “Nuevo Basque” and Mexican cuisine, fine wines and modern décor, Cocina de Autor (Author’s Kitchen in English), is the latest venture from Michelin-Pedigree Executive Chefs Bruno Oteiza and Mikel Alonso. The duo’s Basque background and culinary expertise along with their training under famed three-Michelin-Star Chef Juan Mari Arzak promises to establish the restaurant as the next Riviera Maya culinary hot spot.

The restaurant’s a la carte menu includes a tasting menu and a variety of dishes from Tuna Wrapped in a Rice Skin with Anise and Rib Eye Steak served with Black Corn and Mushrooms to Piquillo Peppers with Duck and Tamarind and Grouper in a White Mole Sauce. Desserts include Apples with Saffron Sauce, Coconut Soup with Fruit Bread, Coco Crunch with Orange Tree Aroma and more.

Cocina de Autor is located at the all-inclusive Grand Velas All Suites & Spa Resort Riviera Maya, 40 miles south of Cancun International Airport and just five minutes from Playa del Carmen.
