True to the Italian label’s signature style, the newest Gucci timepiece is sleek, sophisticated, sexy—and something else you might not expect: it’s setting out to save the world, one young woman at a time. The new Gucci for FFAWN Twirl watch was created in support of R&B diva Mary J. Blige’s Foundation For the Advancement of Women Now, Inc. (FFAWN), which motivates women to succeed through scholarships and self-esteem-building programs.
First launched in 2006, the Twirl watch puts a new spin on fine timepieces—literally—with its rotating case that allows the wearer to change it from chic bracelet to elegant timepiece in just one snap. Now Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini has updated her innovative Twirl design with slick black PVD and a dazzling, black diamond-adorned round case. Each timepiece will feature a special “Gucci for FFAWN” engraving, a reminder of the important contribution made to Blige’s inspiring organization.
To cap off their charitable collaboration, Gucci and Mary J. Blige will host a private in-store cocktail party following “Gucci for FFAWN Day” on September 16th, where a percentage of profits from sales at the New York Fifth Avenue Flagship will be donated to the Foundation.
