SpaHalekulani, an innovative spa that has long been celebrated for transporting guests through a cultural journey to uncover the mystical cultures of Asia, Hawaii and the South Pacific, has unveiled Waianuhea. The new and unique treatment draws upon the healing waters of Gray’s Beach, or Kawehewehe, which fronts Halekulani, and has served as a place of spiritual and physical healing to Hawaiian culture through the generations. Guests are invited to experience two-and-a-half hours of restoration by utilizing the distinct properties of the ocean to cleanse the body and soul.
“Waianuhea translates to ‘cool, soft fragrant water’ and is inspired by the history of Kawehewehe. The scent of Waianuhea is reminiscent of old Hawaii, when one closed one’s eyes and enjoyed the fragrance of Night Blooming Jasmine and ocean spray that permeated the night,” says Lena Mossman, Director of SpaHalekulani. “Each element included in the Waianuhea journey utilizes long savored properties that cleanse and restore guests.”
Waianuhea begins with SpaHalekulani’s Signature Foot Pounding Ritual, which stimulates circulation in the feet, and is followed by a Salt Water Footbath. The Salt Water Footbath cleanses the body physically and spiritually by utilizing pa’akai, more commonly known as Hawaiian salt.
The experience continues with a Pa’akai ‘salt’ Ocean Scrub scented with Night Blooming Jasmine and infused with the healing properties of Limu Kala seaweed. Pa’akai Ocean Scrub exfoliates and purifies the skin for a rejuvenating glow. Waianuhea is completed with a Hawaiian Lomi-inspired massage that uses the energetic cleansing power of ocean shells to assist in clearing blocked Mana “Lifeforce” through the body and spirit. Individuals can also take Waianuhea home with them in the form of a token of appreciation from SpaHalekulani.
Waianuhea is available as an a la carte experience for $420 at SpaHalekulani. In addition, for 2011 the treatment will be included as a centerpiece in Halekulani’s Romance Renewed offering, inviting couples to take advantage of the iconic hotel’s world-class service and amenities while revitalizing their passion in paradise. Starting at $3,200, Romance Renewed includes a four night stay in either an Ocean View Room or an Ocean Front Room highlighting the most memorable views of the Pacific Ocean. Along with the Waianuhea treatment for two, guests also enjoy complimentary breakfast throughout the duration of their stay along with dinner for two at Orchids on the couple’s night of choice.
