Luigi Macaluso, chairman of the SOWIND GROUP (Girard-Perregaux and JEANRICHARD), passed away unexpectedly, leaving his sons Stefano and Massimo Macaluso at the helm of the luxe watchmaking company.
Born in Turin, Italy in 1948, Macaluso was one of the important pioneers responsible for reviving the tradition of the Swiss mechanical watch. Also an architect and a former car racing driver, Macaluso developed an integrated production strategy, and his entrepreneurial skills and visionary leadership are evident from the company he grew with foresight, passion and affection.
Married to Monica, and the father of four children, Stefano, Massimo, Anna and Margherita, Macaluso was known as “Gino” to friends and family.
His sons joined him at SOWIND GROUP over 10 years ago, and their intention is to continue the various projects he began, and to follow his laudable example of leadership and development.
