Announced at the EBACE show in Geneva two years ago, the Falcon 2000S, the latest iteration of Dassault’s popular twin-jet aircraft, grows closer to realizing its promise of bringing a large cabin product to the super mid-size marketplace.
Expected to receive FAA certification in the first quarter of 2013 and to enter service soon after, the Falcon 2000S seems to be a retooling of the popular 2000 series aircraft perfectly timed for a leaner, meaner business environment. While range has been reined back to 3,350 NM, the aircraft retains the previous 2000LX’s spacious cabin as well as its winglets, albeit with an entirely new and sleek interior by BMW Group DesignworksUSA. But one of the key improvements is the aircraft’s relative fuel economy, especially joining city pairs like New York and London, Cape Town and São Paolo, and Beijing and Delhi, to name a few.
“After speaking with our customers and performing a thorough market study, our research confirmed that the ideal platform for a wide-body business jet in this range segment was indeed our very successful Falcon 2000,” John Rosanvallon, president and CEO of Dassault Falcon, told us. “We optimized the platform with a long list of standard options, cutting-edge technology and industry-leading features with the Falcon 2000S. Our proudest accomplishment, though, was designing an aircraft that burns ten percent less fuel than aircraft 20 percent smaller while offering a very competitive price.”
