New York, NY – Reported by Elite Traveler, the Private Jet Lifestyle Magazine
Joan Hornig Jewelry, famous for its “Philanthropy is Beautiful” model, has created the Tears for Oil necklace in an effort to help raise awareness and funds for the recent Gulf of Mexico oil spill.
The unisex necklace, which consists of a sterling silver oil drop pendant on a 24-inch sterling silver chain, is part of Joan Hornig Jewelry’s continued commitment to responding quickly to global catastrophe. Each pendant has a partially-oxidized finish to mirror the polluted effect of the water in the Gulf.
Seeking to provide financial relief and solidarity to those affected by this tragedy, while also attempting to help restore the environmental and economic vibrancy of the Gulf area, the price of the piece is $50.40, which represents the site of the spill: 5,000 feet below the ocean’s surface and 40 miles from the Louisiana coast. For every necklace sold, 100 percent of all profits will be donated via the “Philanthropy is Beautiful” model, which allows the purchaser to choose which charity they would like to donate to.
