South Male Atoll, Maldives – Reported by Elite Traveler, the private jet lifestyle magazine
Jumeirah Vittaveli Maldives, the Dubai-based luxury hotel group’s second opening in the idyllic chain of islands in 2011, welcomed its first guests on December 14. Positioning itself as a resort that caters to couples, families, and small groups with equal aplomb, the property lies a mere 20 minutes by speedboat from Malé International Airport.
Each of the resort’s 91 accommodations—all villa-suites, some on the beautiful island and others above the crystalline waters that surround it—boasts its very own private pool. Suite size ranges from 1,980 to a whopping 8,611 square feet, so no matter where you bed down, you won’t want for space.
In addition to an indulgent Talise Spa, three restaurants, and a bar, Jumeirah Vittaveli features kids and teen clubs to keep younger ones entertained with programs that are not only fun and interactive, but educational as well. Adjacent to the clubs, the hotel has built a swimming pool dedicated to families with children. All three of Vittaveli’s dining venues tout children’s menus, and the spa has a special family-time concept, as well as customized treatments for young adults aged 12 to 16.
At the helm of Vittaveli’s cuisine is Executive Chef Kai Boeddinghaus, who earned a Michelin star while at Kameha Suite in Frankfurt. Drawing upon a mix of Mediterranean and Asian influences, Boeddinghaus ensures that guests will have a variety of inspiring settings and flavors to choose from.
