Vancouver, Canada – Hanjin Group and Korean Air Chairman Yang Ho Cho has been appointed an Official Ambassador for the Peace and Sport Foundation at a cocktail event in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, according to a press release received by Elite Traveler.
Led by President and Founder of Peace and Sport Joel Bouzou, an Olympic medalist and a Modern Pentathlon World Champion and under the High Patronage of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, Peace and Sport Foundation is an international non-profit organization with a mission to promote sustainable peace by raising awareness about and educating youth about peace using the values of sport.
Actively involved in sports as Chairman of the Korea Table Tennis Association and East Asia Regional Vice President of the Asia Table Tennis Union, Yang Ho Cho is the 10th Ambassador of Peace and Sport and the first Ambassador to be appointed from Asia.
“Chairman Cho shares a passion for the power of sport to help make the world a more peaceful place. He has impressed me with his deep belief in our movement and international goodwill activities as President of the Korean Table Tennis Federation,” said President Bouzou.
Prince Albert congratulated Chairman Cho and personally attached Peace and Sport’s symbolic golden pin to his jacket.
Accepting the ambassadorship, Chairman Cho said “I am deeply honored to be invited to become an Ambassador for this wonderful organization. I believe very strongly that sport can change lives and help spread peace around the world. Peace and Sport has led the way in promoting this noble cause and all of us at Korean Air are delighted to be involved.”
Of the nine current Ambassadors, five are IOC members including HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, Head of State and IOC member from Monaco; HRH Prince Nawaf Faisal Abdulaziz, IOC Member from Saudi Arabia; Sir Philip Craven, President of the International Paralympic Committee and IOC Member from the United Kingdom; and Dr. Mario Pescante, IOC Vice President and IOC Member from Italy.
