Popular belief has it that the full moon affects people’s behavior, bringing the unexpected on those brightest of nights. The Full Moon Dinners on the Beach at Las Ventanas al Paraíso, A Rosewood Resort prove this theory true as even our most quiet guests seem suddenly ready to party at these intriguing, star-crossed events held on the sand every full moon night throughout the year.
“The setting is so exotic – with a huge moon above the sea shining a magical light across the water and sand, the dancing flames of the bonfires and the energetic rhythm of the acoustic guitars – that it’s not a surprise everyone really gets into the spirit of the evening,” said Managing Director Lionel Álvarez.
Tables for two are set up along the shoreline separated by small bamboo screens and wrought-iron sculptures of cactus. Guests are served a four-course gourmet dinner as large bonfires roar between the tables and the sea, while Gypsy Kings-themed music is played by the “Hermanos de Lune,” Las Ventanas’ extraordinary in-house guitar duo (whose name, coincidentally, means Brothers of the Moon). To explore the moon and the heavens, individual telescopes and a Star & Planet Guide are provided to each table, along with assistance from the staff in locating planets and constellations.
The dinner menus are each individual epicurean creations for that month by Executive Chef Fabrice Guisset. Each menu offers several main-course choices including meat and seafood dishes.
Full moon dinners are scheduled for the following dates in 2010: March 30, April 28, May 27, June 26, July 26, August 24, September 23, October 23, November 21 and December 21.
