New York, New York – Lladró presents the first three creations from the Scenes Collection by Jaime Hayon, a new collaboration between the ingenious Spanish designer and the world-renowned porcelain brand.
Delicately handcrafted and presented in limited editions of 100 units each, the new pieces are now being unveiled at the Interior Design Show in Toronto, right after their world premiere at DesignTide in Tokyo. The Scenes further underscore the poetic expressiveness of porcelain through a highly personal and contemporary gaze, and capture special moments from magical worlds, as if frozen in an instant within a glass dome. Each of these original scenes tells a story in a unique language.
Lover’s Garden, Raining Hearts and Toy
In Lover’s Garden, when the character of The Lover plucks a heart from his garden, it immediately starts to turn into the brightest red in the Lladró palette as a symbol of passionate love. In Raining Hearts, Hayon returns to the toy, a signature element in his career, and brings it into the world of Lladró. At the same time, the Toy itself, featuring a different decoration, is transformed into a chopstick rest. These first creations will be followed by new pieces to be premiered in January 2010 at Maison et Objet in Paris.
A shared drive to innovate unites Lladró and Jaime Hayon (Madrid, 1974) in a partnership that began in 2006 before being consolidated with his appointment as the brand’s Artistic Advisor.
