Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – Reported by Elite Traveler, the private jet lifestyle magazine
Qatar Airways and Tanzania Tourist Board announce a new route from Doha International Airport, Qatar, to Kilimanjaro International Airport, Tanzania, commencing on July 25. The Kilimanjaro International Airport service, now Qatar’s second gateway in Tanzania, will operate daily via Nairobi.
“Following the success of Qatar’s daily service (two flights a day) to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania’s commercial capital and gateway to the south, the new Kilimanjaro service will increase access to Arusha, the Safari capital of the north. The additional airlift will enable more tourists to travel in peak season to the famous icons of the Serengeti, Kilimanjaro, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara and other points in the region. We expect the added service to benefit both the north and south as Qatar passengers will be able to fly into one gateway and leave Tanzania from another,” said Dr. Aloyce Nzuki, managing director of Tanzania Tourist Board.
Kilimanjaro International Airport currently serves 650,000 passengers every year with the number of international arrivals consistently increasing by nearly 15 percent a year since 2003. Presently the only international air access direct to Kilimanjaro from the US is with Ethiopian Airlines and Delta.
