Los Angeles, CA – Francois-Henry Bennahmias, President & CEO of Audemars Piguet North America hosted an evening celebrating Quincy Jones, the entertainment legend as the brand’s newest ambassador as well as the US launch of the Millenary Quincy Jones Limited Edition timepiece at Los Angeles’ SLS Hotel this past Wednesday. The renowned Swiss watchmaker, in recognition of the partnership, has contributed $1 million to The Quincy Jones Foundation.
No event with Jones would be complete without a musical tribute. Cuban pianist Alfredo Rodrìguez wowed the audience with a remarkable performance of “Crossing the Border,” the first song he wrote upon arrival in the United States last year. And a special surprise for the invitation-only VIP crowd included the playing of never-before heard songs from Quincy Jones’ soon to be released (due Spring 2010) album “Soul Bossa Nostra.” Many of Quincy’s most famous songs have been remade by some of today’s hottest music talent including Mary J. Blige, Usher, Akon, Ludacris, and Jennifer Hudson to name a few.
According to a press release received by Elite Traveler, Audemars Piguet has chosen to partner with Quincy Jones in developing Project Q, an initiative aimed at raising awareness among politicians as well as people in general regarding young people’s need for self-expression and the means to help them fulfil their potential. At the core of Project Q lies the Q Prize, an international award presented by Audemars Piguet, honoring a public figure or social organization that has played a central role on behalf of children. The Audemars Piguet Millenary Quincy Jones timepiece is a limited edition collection of 500 pieces and available at Audemars Piguet boutiques worldwide.
