PARK CITY, Utah – The Golden Door Spa, a pioneer in comprehensive wellness, will open its first location in Utah in spring 2009 as part of Dakota Mountain Lodge, the first ski property of The Waldorf-Astoria Collection. Residents and visitors of the Park City hotel condominium will enjoy indigenous treatments and fitness programs in the world-class destination spa, which will be surrounded by breathtaking views of The Canyons®, Park City Mountain Resort® and Deer Valley Resort®, all among the top ski resorts in the United States.
“The Utah mountains will serve as an ideal backdrop for our newest location said Tom Posey, president and chief executive officer, Golden Door Spas. “Our commitment to the quintessential spa experience complements The Waldorf-Astoria Collection’s dedication to five-star service. The Dakota Mountain Lodge and Golden Door Spa will certainly transport residents and visitors to the ultimate getaway.”
The Golden Door, founded in 1959 by fitness visionary Deborah Szekely, is widely recognized as the first luxury destination spa in the United States. The spa offers a complete mind/body experience combining pampering with exercise and nutrition programs. It has been named one of the top destination spas by readers and editors of top-tier luxury travel and lifestyle publications.
The Park City location will be a 15,000-square-foot facility nestled into the breathtaking mountainside, creating the perfect setting for becoming one with nature. Plans include 15 treatment rooms featuring a full slate of signature offerings, along with a cutting edge nail and hair spa. A custom designed fitness center will offer an extensive menu of classes including cardio, yoga, meditation, stretching, Pilates, Kinesis, resistance training and other innovative programs. Guests will also have the opportunity to enjoy fresh, wholesome cuisine that fits with the overall wellness philosophy of the spa − to live a longer and better life.
“Dakota Mountain Lodge along with the Golden Door Spa offers the ultimate in alpine living,” said Lee Hindin, principal of DuVal Development, the developers of Dakota Mountain Lodge. “Residents will be surrounded by the scenic Rocky Mountains, and will enjoy world-class skiing and on-site access to a premier wellness center.”
Dakota Mountain Lodge will be home to the sixth and northernmost Golden Door Spa. Ancient Asian influences, environmental attunement and classic European spa techniques form the foundations for each Golden Door location. The spectacular views and immersion in the Utah Rockies will make a day, weekend or week at the Park City spa a life-affirming experience.
Dakota Mountain Lodge and Golden Door Spa will be nestled in The Canyons, Utah’s largest ski and snowboard resort, and one of the largest in the United States. The resort’s new Frostwood Gondola is currently under construction and will be adjacent to the Lodge. Residents and guests will be able to ski-in and ski-out to The Canyons’ slopes with personal ski valets escorting their equipment to and from the gondola, or they can vary their ski experience at any of Utah’s 12 other ski resorts, including Deer Valley and Park City Mountain Resorts, less than 10 minutes away.
The 265,000-square-foot Dakota Mountain Lodge offers 170 residences ranging in size from executive suite-style studios to the six-bedroom “mansion in the sky” penthouse and will be outfitted with the finest furnishings. Residence prices range from approximately $479,000 to more than $2.5 million. Fewer than 40 residences remain for sale at this Waldorf-Astoria Collection property, which is expected to open in spring 2009.
