Los Angeles, California – Reported by Elite Traveler, the Private Jet Lifestyle Magazine
Light and dark. Classic and sporty. Stark contrasts produce dramatic effects in two new editions of Richard Mille’s thinnest timepiece, the RM 016.
Citrus-bright yellow and orange hues outline the numerals and hands, which dazzle against the darkness of the watch’s black DLC titanium case. With its ultra-thin profile—8.25 mm thick—the RM 016 is a sleek accessory to classic dress. And now, presented for the first time on a rubber strap, the RM 016 DLC Titanium is ready for action too.
When Richard Mille introduced the RM 016 in 2007, it represented the first rectangular watch in the collection. Its distinct design—ultra-thin, and tapered to fit the wrist—found instant appeal with men and women. Yet this watch remains 100 percent Richard Mille, featuring the same attention to detail and technical achievement as its tonneau-shaped predecessors. The manufacture and assembly of the case’s three sections require 202 separate machining operations. And its unidirectional rotor with variable geometry, an exclusive to Richard Mille, allows the movement’s winding mechanism to be optimized and personalized to the owner’s lifestyle.
Richard Mille will produce 15 examples of the RM 016 DLC Titanium in Orange, and 15 examples of the RM 016 DLC Titanium in Yellow. The limited editions are available at authorized Richard Mille retailers in North and South America, as well as the first Richard Mille boutique in the region, which opens in Beverly Hills, California this November.
