One of Mexico’s hottest new destinations for high-end travelers, has announced that three of its most luxurious properties—The Four Seasons Punta Mita, Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit and the St. Regis Punta Mita—have been recognized with the top honor in the AAA Diamond Ratings System for restaurants and lodgings, the AAA Five Diamond distinction.
These posh properties are no stranger to the high level of recognition: The Four Seasons Punta Mita has received the prize for 10 years running, while Grand Velas has enjoyed five consecutive years of Five Diamond distinction (in addition to two Four Diamond restaurants onsite). The St. Regis Punta Mita, which opened less than two years ago, is earning the honor for the second year in a row.
“Less than one percent of the AAA rated hotels in the world earn the Five Diamond; 10 percent of those hotels are in Mexico. Riviera Nayarit has three, plus a good number of hotels with the Four Diamond Award,” explained Tony Perrone, the director of AAA for Mexico and the Caribbean.
