Rockresorts Opens This Winter In The Dominican Republic

RockResorts continues its expansion into the Caribbean with Balcones del Atlántico, a RockResort, set to open this winter in the Samaná Peninsula of the Dominican Republic.The new resort in the small fishing village of Las Terrenas will embody island elegance and undiscovered natural beauty, blending local flavor and Latin flair. Travelers are invited to experience the resort during its opening season with the grand opening Paradise Discovery package, which is available now for guests looking to get a sneak peak in its pre-opening stage.

This new multi-room villa-suite resort is ideally situated along the sparkling waters of nearly a mile of white-sand beaches. It will feature a RockResorts Spa, two pools with swim-up bars, a beach restaurant and bar, and gourmet deli shop. With 86 two- and three-bedroom villa suites, Balcones del Atlántico will offer a stylish and comfortable design with a strong emphasis on natural surroundings.

Guests can experience the resort during its grand opening season with the Paradise Indulgence package for stays valid now through April 11, 2011, with the only blackout dates falling over Christmas week. In keeping with RockResorts tradition, the destination is known for its eco-tourism and whale-watching. Samaná is home to one of the largest and best breeding grounds in the world for humpback whales. Between January 15 and March 25 each year, thousands of whales from the North Atlantic population migrate to the region. Guests can also visit El Limón Falls by foot or by horseback. Los Haitises National Park offers adventure tours through Taino caves, subtropical rainforests and archeological wonders.
The resort is easily accessible from a number of international airports including Santa Domingo in Las Américas, offering direct air service from New York, Miami, Boston, Fort Lauderdale and Philadelphia. Located on the north coast of the Samaná Peninsula, Las Terrenas brings together a myriad of cultures including French, German, Italian and Spanish influences and offers resort guests additional options for dining, shopping, nightlife and other activities close to the resort.
